Fritz Music Studio

Welcome!  I look forward to the opportunity to work with your young musician!

Educational Philosophy

I believe a student will learn best when exposed to the whole picture.   Lessons will consist of a strong focus on the many intricate techniques for playing the violin, but also include sight-reading (reading a new piece of music for the first time) music theory, and ear-training exercises.

Opportunities

Students will be expected to perform in a yearly recital.  This is tremendously important to student in that it teaches them how to focus on perfecting a musical work, as well as performing in front of others.

Both my wife and I direct youth orchestras here in Tulare County.  Performing in an ensemble is vitally important to the maturing of a young musician.

Sharing your new found talent with others in your church, school, retirement homes, and more!

Expectations

I will show your student how and why practice is important, but how much a student progresses is entirely up to their dedication to their craft.  As a teacher I do not set arbitrary amounts of time that a student must practice, because every child is different, but instead will give guidelines.  The thing to remember is that daily practice as well as attendance at weekly lessons is vitally important if you want to improve.

Also, a new development as of late is the imbalance taking place between music and sports.  I am willing to compromise and work with a student wishing to do both music and a sport, but will do so only if there is an equal give and take on both parties.  Please decide early on and set priorities so that realistic expectations can be set.

Materials

Instrument(s):  Different violin sizes for different ages

Music:  Suzuki, Muller-Rusch, Scales, solo works, etc…

Accessories:  Shoulder rests, strings, rosin, mute

Tuition

Rates are $25/half-hour lesson, or $40/45 minute lesson.   Many private teachers require a monthly payment due at the beginning of a month set on a flat-rate regardless of how many lessons are given in a month.  I do not operate that way, in part because I need the flexibility to cancel a lesson on occasion due to my extensive performing career.

Payment is expected at the final lesson of the month for the total lessons held in that month.  Please come prepared with a check/cash, and feed the crab by our front door.

Missed Lessons

If you need to cancel please try to notify me the evening before, or no later than the morning of.   I allow for one emergency cancellation, but after that expect to be paid for any late cancellation of lessons.  Payment for lessons is as much paying for the teacher’s time as it is for the material being taught.

Again, I thank you for entrusting me with your child’s education, and I look forward to sharing with them something personal that has and will continue to bring me so much joy for a lifetime.

                                                                              Sincerely, Jeff Fritz
